Members of a Learning Community are most effective when they are....
a risk taker, flexible, fearless, sharing oriented, learning centered, reflective and have varied expertise. The following are two articles in a PDF format that detail two of these characteristics.
  • Learning Centered- Lee Schulman, President of The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Professor of Education (1999), Stanford University wrote this classic article on what it means to take learning seriously.
  • Reflective- Joy Amulya from the Center for Reflective Community Practice Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote this article on, "What is Reflective Practice?"

It is also important to have collaborative leadership in the community.
